Groups FAQ

Groups on the Portal are both public and private.

What services are available to the Group?

The Portal provides members a space to work collaboratively. A suite of workflow tools provided to each Group includes: Group member listing, Group email, shared library services, smartfolder content aggregators, and content flagging and indexing. As well as:

Find out if I am a member of a Group?

All of the Groups (Public and Private) working inside the Portal are visible to the public.  When you click on the Group tab you will be able to see a long list of Groups.  You can click on any of the Groups but will only be able to see contents that the (Public or Private) Group has published. 

1. Click on the Group tab and look at the right column to see the My Groups portlet.groups

If you are a Member of a Group OR think you are a member of a Group you should not only see ALL the contents inside this Group area but also a navigation bar allowing you to work in the Group space.

If you believe you should be a member of a Group, but do not see the Group listed, or cannot see any of the tabs to work inside the Group, email the Portal Administrator.

Become a member of a Group?

To become a member of a Group please email the Portal Administrator.

Create a Group?

To request a Group please email the Portal Administrator or your Group Coordinator to request assistance.

Find my Group?

The user will see only those Groups listed of which he or she is a Member. If you believe you should be a member of a Group, but do not see the Group listed, or cannot see any of the tabs to work inside the Group, email the Portal Administrator.

Make my Group public or private?

Yes, a Group can be public (participation in the Group is available to all) or private (limited membership only).

Create a Group Forum

Public and private threaded forum discussions are available to your Group. Simply ask the Portal Administrator to setup yourforum. Please indicate if the Forum is to be public or private to your Group.
