Community-Based Natural Resource Management in Africa (ARD RAISE)

This folder contains a variety of materials gathered or developed for USAID AFR-SD for the CBNRM Working Group and are based on case studies from 1999-2001. Materials were prepared under contract to ARD Inc. and assembled by Henri P. Josserand.

Community-Based Natural Resource Management in Africa (1999-2001)


This folder contains a variety of materials gathered or developed for USAID AFR-SD; they are arranged by type of document, in several directories and subdirectories. Many, such as citations in the synthesis report, bibliographic entries or actual documents, are hyperlinked. This allows the user to move from the Synthesis Report to bibliographic references or models, for example. The materils includes the following directories and subdirectories:

  • Purpose and main participants;
  • A Synthesis Report summarizing the main findings, with hyperlinks to bibliographic references and documents prepared by the team;
  • An annotated Bibliography of selected documents and presentations;
  • A collection of Documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Case Studies or Reports from the World Bank-sponsored 1998 International Workshop on CBNRM. They are hyperlinked from the Bibliography;
  • Several Analytical Tools developed by the team. NetWeaver is also available separately from the Heron Group, LLC;
  • A country application: Community-Based Forest Management in Madagascar;
  • Sample Data files; and
  • World Wide Web Sites of interest to the CBNRM community.
