This evidence summary highlights specific ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) approaches that can help communities adapt to extreme weather and other climate events such as floods, storm surges, landslides, fires, droughts and heat waves. It also explains the role of EbA in urban and rural resilience to extreme events, differences between EbA and ecosystem-based approaches to disaster risk reduction and how EbA compares with and complements built infrastructure.
