Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR)

USAID’s Forestry and Biodiversity Office (FAB) supports a suite of research activities within the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR).CIFOR Mangrove Research

The research program was designed jointly by FAB and CIFOR researchers under the leadership of Robert Nasi, CIFOR's Deputy Director General for Research, to fit FAB and CIFOR’s research priorities as well as USAID’s biodiversity earmark requirements.  Core research topics center around forests and food security and improving global knowledge about bushmeat (wild meat) consumption, marketing and sustainability. Special topics that FAB has supported include a study of the impact of forest certification, a special edition on dry forests, landscape scale impacts of sustainable intensification, and a collaboration to map alternative livelihoods approaches to biodiversity conservation.
