Study on the Development of Transboundary Natural Resource Management Areas in Southern Africa Global Review: Lessons Learned

This report focuses on the various aspects of establishing Transboundary Conservation Areas (TBCAs). The report reflects on the need to analyze a broad range of information pertinent to understand the role of diverse factors that lead to the successful establishment of a TBCA. The report also discusses the process and benefits of forming a TBCA and the role of TBCAs in eco-regional conservation. It concludes that TBCA formation is still a new concept in which the potential benefits are yet to be realized. However the potential does exist to foster political cooperation and sustainable cross-border ecosystem management.
