by Portal Web Editor last modified Jan 10, 2013 12:09 PM

The University of Rhode Island Coastal Resources Center and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Office of Environment and Natural Resources, Bureau for Economic Growth, Agriculture and Trade Water Team, work as partners through the Coastal Resources Management Program (CRMP) to increase conservation and sustainable use of coastal resources worldwide, with emphasis on assistance to key countries in Asia, Eastern and Southern Africa, and Latin America.

CRMP simultaneously focuses on:

Field support to key countries, including activities to catalyze integrated coastal management (ICM) programs in USAID countries and regions where there are significant coastal uses. With support from USAID field missions, CRMP works with in-country partners to implement sustainable ICM programs, and facilitate cross-region activities to promote increased capacity and learning.

Global technical leadership to expand the impact of CRMP results beyond key countries. CRMP substantively participates in global initiatives; builds strategic partnerships with other donors and organizations that share our objectives and values; develops and disseminates ICM concepts and tools; and convenes global capacity-building efforts.
