The objective of this USFS mission was to gather baseline information (quantitative and qualitative) about the biodiversity within pastoral areas of the PLI II project. To help accomplish this objective, a pilot study was initiated to examine the effects of rangeland management treatments, including prescribed fire, on plant diversity. Training in plant diversity measurements and plant collection and preservation techniques were introduced to Save the Children US (STC) and local government employees working in natural resources in Negelle.
