What's New from Ecosystem Marketplace

Water quality trading is widely seen as a promising tool that offers a
flexible, cost-effective approach to reducing water pollution. But it has
been consistently hindered by a lack of demand for credits. Over the past several months, we have been partnering with the National Network for Water Quality Trading (NNWQT) to map potential demand for both agriculture-generated water quality credits and stormwater credits. Take a look at our results here and in this interactive StoryMap. You can also find a summary in the NNWQT's *Priority Actions for Advancing Water Quality Trading (co-authored by Ecosystem Marketplace).

Bionic Planet: Navigating The New Reality

Long morning bike ride?

Stuck in line at the farmer’s market? Check out Bionic Planet, the "podcast of the anthropocene” that examines how people are navigating the reality of a human-dominated climate and environment. Recent episodes have covered everything from double counting carbon emissions and natural climate solutions in Katowice to how indigenous communities are interacting with global commodities trading to the US Supreme Court's decisions about the Clean Water Rule, and are voiced by Ecosystem Marketplace's Editor and journalist extraordinaire, Steve Zwick. You can listen on the podcast's website or subscribe wherever your get your podcasts.

Offsetting and Aviation: Ready for Takeoff?

In 2013, the international aviation industry announced a goal to achieve carbon-neutral growth beginning in 2020. Now, the International Civil Aviation Organization is getting ready to launch an industry-wide cap and trade program called Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). As negotiators prepare to announce final decisions about which offsets to use, voluntary carbon market participants have questions. Take a look at this Q&A piece and infographic about what to expect.

We've also been reporting on the recent COP24 in Katowice. Check out our coverage:
