We start out this year with a focus on democracy. Why? It is the aspiration citizens share worldwide—transparency, genuine choice in elections, citizen-responsive governance, human rights and inclusiveness, youth-centered investments, and women’s empowerment.

Now through International Day of Democracy in September, our “Democracy Is” campaign will show how USAID supports people advocating for democratic values, economic opportunity, justice, and peace.

News & Events

The Agency marked 10 years since a magnitude 7.0 earthquake devastated Haiti. Our advisors deployed to Australia in response to ongoing wildfires. And USAID is providing aid to thousands displaced by the Taal volcano in the Philippines.

After Willian stopped growing coca, he started a ceramics business in Peru. Then he learned how to use the internet, expand his business, and increase sales. USAID, the Government of Peru, Cisco, and private and financial institutions supported this effort.
