Keynote Address
When: Tuesday April 8, 2014, 4:00-5:30 pm
Where: Organ Recital Hall, University Center for the Arts, CSU>
The keynote address will feature Dr. David Nkedianye, the Governor of Kajiado County, Kenya and Maasai pastoralist. Dr. Nkedianye currently leads policy making for nearly a million people in Maasailand. Dr. Nkedianye received his Ph.D from the University of Edinburgh and has led research on drought mitigation, climate change, and human livelihoods in pastoral systems. He was a Practitioner Fellow for the founding cohort of the Center for Collaborative Conservation at CSU, has worked as a consultant and Research Scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute, Kenya, and has served as Deputy Coordinator for the Centre for Sustainable Dryland Ecosystems and Societies at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
Panel Discussions
When: Wednesday April 9, 2014, 8:00-4:00 pm (registration/breakfast at 7:30 am)
Where: Grey Rock Room and LSC 230, Lory Student Center, CSU
The panel discussions will be organized around themes that crosscut important processes in the earth system and human development, and point ways to transformations for sustainability of African ecosystems and societies. Our diverse group of panelists will address topics concerning global one-health, food and water, ecosystem services and biodiversity, governance, equity and energy, and development, education and sustainability.
