Warden Somba, having recently completed an exchange program at Everglades and Biscayne National Park will speak about his US training as well as his work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC.)  NPS and WWF partnered to coordinate Warden Somba's program as a first endeavor to support staff in war-torn Virunga and Garamba National Parks.

Warden Somba has spent much of his career leading efforts to protect endangered mountain gorillas in Virunga and currently directs efforts to protect endangered species such as elephants, and white rhinos (nearly extinct in the wild) in Garumba National Park. Garumba and Virunga are listed on the World Heritage in Danger List. Many of his colleagues have died protecting wildlife and other resources in the DRC's national parks.
