Africa KidSAFE networks is funded by the Displaced Children and Orphans Fund (DCOF) office of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and by UNICEF Zambia. The Africa KidSAFE (Shelter, Advocacy, Food and Education) network was established in 2000 by Project Concern International Zambia (PCI Z) and Fountain of Hope to assist local organizations to address the most urgent needs of street children and to help prevent other vulnerable children from ending up on the streets. Key objectives of the Africa KidSAFE network include building the capacity of organizations to improve minimum standards for service delivery to street children, reducing the number of street children through family tracing and reintegration, and preventing community-to-street drift of at-risk children by strengthening the care-giving capacity of families and communities.
